Today my kidlets went back to school after Christmas break. This year they
were out more than three weeks from December 20th until January 14th. It
felt like a lot longer and now I feel rather alone without them. I know that
it will pass but I do love having my kidlets around all the time.

How is everyone with their worlds getting back to pre holiday norm?

Nope not really!! My kids were off from December 20th til January
7th. They didn't want to go back because of Asher being here!! :0 We
have all the decorations down finally about one week ago!! But it's
been a wild Christmas this year with me having contractions around
Christmas and wondering if i was going to make it through without
having the baby!! Maybe it wont be this hectic next year!! I will just
have to have his 1st birthday party planned!! LOL

Must admit you probably had one of the most exciting Christmas breaks this
year. I remember how disappointed Rachel was when she realized that starting
school was going to mean being separated from Ian all day. She was such the
"little Mama." I hope you are all five having a great time getting to know
each other better and settling in as a family.

Jeepers, DD was out for two weeks (went back last Monday) and it felt like a
month. Three weeks? Yikes! But she's off today for a teachers' work day
(second quarter ended Friday, and they get a whole day to calculate the
grades - ticks me off that they couldn't possibly work past 3:30 or put in a
few extra hours over the weekend to get the job done like the rest of the
world, but don't get me started on that!) and will be off next Monday for
MLK day. It's tough on both me and her, because I work at home on Mondays
doing payroll, and I can't re-schedule, so she is bored and I'm distracted.
It seems there are more Monday holidays than any other day, grumble!

And next Monday is Martin Luther King Day so they will have another three
day weekend after barely having gone back to school.

I just don't remember having so very many days out of school when I was
little.

I really miss my guys when they are in school. They went back last
Tuesday. We did something everyday that they were out. We spent a lot
of time at different parks. We were the only ones at most of the
parks. We went to Chuck E. Cheese once, lunch several times and Kidz
Bounce Zone. To bad part of two days were spent at the pedi, including
the day after Christmas. All eight had strep throat. The shot didn't
work on everyone so we were back a week later. I did keep them away
from other children for 48 hours after the shot, because I was told
that they wouldn't be contagious after that. I guess I am kinda glad
they had school today, because it is my turn to battle strep throat.
Skylar and I have spent since last Thursday afternoon on the couch or
just laying around. I saw my doctor on Thursday and have been on
medicine since. We have so much fun together that the house is so
empty when they are not here. Skylar loves having me to herself, but
she runs to the door as soon as she hears the bus.

Gosh, Maya must have had the shortest Christmas break ever! From Dec. 22
to Jan. 4th. Only 13 days, if you don't count the weekends only 8 days
out of school! Texas made some new law last year saying ALL schools in
the state have to start on August 27th. Before that our school district
started around the beginning of August and ended near the end of May.
Now we've lost lots of days (no fall break this year, usually 1 week in
October) but they added 2 days the week of Thanksgiving so the whole
week was off). School isn't out until June 3rd or somewhere in that area.

Yes, it does get pretty quiet during the day, but I have the kitties to
keep me company so it's not really lonely here. Maya sure makes up for
the quiet when she gets home, that's for sure! Smile

Wow--that's a *long* break! Rayna was out from Dec. 21st until Jan. 2nd.
(The public schools in this area had a similar break.)

We've been back in the full swing of things for over a week now. Although
there are things I love about the holidays, I'm *very* glad when they're
over. Ready for spring to begin! Wink

Addie and Taylor were out of school for two weeks, and went back last
Monday. We had today off, and will have next Monday off as well, for MLK
Jr. day. I was very happy to have them go back to school...I'm still in awe
of an extra couple hours a few days a week, and enjoy the time to myself
immensly!

We packed up Christmas on January 2nd, so it feels like Christmas has been
over for a long time already. Now looking forwards towards dh's birthday,
Feb 12, Valentines, and then my 42nd. The Saturday after my birthday, which
happens to be Nathan's day, we're taking the girls to Disney Princess on
Ice. They have no idea. It's gonna be SOOOO fun. It should be a nice way
to spend the day.

I just bought our tickets for princesses on ice a few minutes ago! We are
going Feb 23. If you've never been, it really is a great show. We went a
couple of years ago, just when Abby was starting to get into princesses, and
she LOVED it. Every time we go downtown and she sees the arena, she
screams, "There's the princess house!" Abby doesn't know about it either,
so I can't wait to surprise her! You'll have a great time!!
