I have permission from Amacom Books to distribute an
excerpt from the new book, "Kids Who Think Outside the
Box," by Stephanie Lerner. The author coaxed 31 "living
legends" to talk about how their childhood dreams became
adult achievements. These autobiographical sketches feature
celebrities from the arts, business, politics, science, and
sports, such as movie director Spike Lee, blind Iditarod
musher Rachel Scdoris, New York mayor Michael Bloomberg,
and Internet visionary Vinton Cerf.

The excerpt I'm distributing is an autobiographical sketch
of Dr. Mehmet Oz, the brilliant cardiac surgeon, teacher
and author. Dr. Oz recently appeared on the Oprah Winfrey
Show to discuss his hit book, "YOU: The Owner's Manual." In
the excerpt I'm distributing, Dr. Oz relates a childhood
near-death experience that changed his view of life.

To get the excerpt, send mailto:excerpts@authorviews.com
with the subject line "Send Oz" and I will reply with the
text -- and *only* the text -- NO file attachments or opt-
in mailing list jive.

"Kids Who Think Outside the Box" makes an ideal gift for
moms and dads. The celebrity profiles will inspire young
people to reach for their dreams. And the profiles of 48
unique educational programs for "prefocused" children will
help parents make those dreams come true.

This book is inspiring, direct and enlightening. Finally a book that talks
about an issue that should be obvious...the importance of embracing a
child's differences. That is what leads to personal success.

Through the stories of the super achiever..Paul McCartney, Spike Lee,
Olympians, Nobel Prize Winners, Scientists, Adventurers, Writers...the
author shows us by example that success definately starts differently in
each of us.

This book is for parents, teachers, non-parents and kids. Buy it...it's
great. I felt better about myself after reading it.
