Well Asher will be 6 weeks old tomorrow!! I want to know where 6 weeks
went to?? He is such a sweetie. He is smiling almost everyday at me,
not a gassy smile it's a real one!! He eats like a trooper!! I am
still breastfeeding too. That's going ok i guess. When i pump i only
get about 1 ounce out of both sides!! But when he breastfeeds he gulps
like he is getting a ton of milk. That's the only thing i don't
understand. He chokes almost he gets it too fast. I am breastfeeding
every 2 hours. My milk supply should be better than that right? I
have always heard that women with PCOS don't make much milk? I don't
know how true that is. Well i go for my last postpartum checkup
tomorrow. I am having a lot of emotions because it's so final
tomorrow. I won't ever go again for "pregnancy". It's like i am
relieving the infertility over again. I know for a fact now that i
will never ever be pregnant again. Tim had a vasectomy. I guess i
could be going through a tad of postpartum depression. Well just
lettin you know how Asher is doing. He goes to the doctor for his 2
month checkup soon. I can't wait to see how much he's gained then.

Clarice, your supply sounds great... perhaps even over-supply, but you
definately have a fast let down, hence the choking. Simply take him off and
either collect the milk in a cup or onto a rag then put him back on again
when the flow slows. I had to do this with DD. My let down was way too fast.
;0)
The good thing being that as he is older and can handle the torrent of milk
(3 - 4 months) the feeds will suddenly get ultra-quick. 3 - 5 minutes per
side, max. It sounds like he's just learned how to trigger let down, but the
start is just a little too fast for him.
It's normal to feel a little sad. When our friends gave us their nursery
stuff the wife had a big cry. It's good bye to a part of your life, a phase
of your life.
Good luck with Asher. Sounds like he's doing great.

It sounds to me like your milk supply is just fine. Keep up the good
work! I can somewhat relate even now to the sadness of possibly not
ever being pregnant again. We will use our remaining embryos in a few
years in one last frozen cycle, and if that doesn't work that's it for
us. I feel so blessed just to have the 2 girls that I have, but at the
same time I would really like to have one more later on as well. I
guess things work out the way they are supposed to though. I will just
have to trust that God knows his plan for my family. It totally
sounds like you could have a mild case of PPD, I definitely did (and
sometimes even now - 5 months later! - I feel like I may still have a
tinge of it). I liked to refer to it as the baby blues since I knew it
wasn't as intense as a lot of people describe it. I think IF coupled
with all the normal hormonal reactions that come with pregnancy,
childbirth, and caring for an infant can kind of push us infertiles
over the top as far as emotions go! It sounds like Asher is doing
wonderfully! I love to hear the updates!

Happy 6 week birthday Asher! It sounds like he is doing beautifully!
The end of our "pregnancy careers" is so hard. I remember thinking I wanted
to be pregnant until I was 40. I wanted a dozen. It didn't happy that way.
But I love love love the three I have and wouldn't trade them for anything.
Hang in there.

I swear that your hormones don't return back to normal until after you
stop b/f. Maybe because your body still doesn't completely feel like
it belongs to you? That's my theory anyway! The girls are doing great.
Kayla has 2 teeth now and is loving solid foods. Haley is still
attached too much to milk to care much for anything else!

Time just flies, doesn't it? It sounds like your breastfeeding is going
great. As long as he's satisfied, you have plenty. Babies are better at
getting at it than pumps
I know what you mean about "last baby syndrome"... I had a lot of
emotions too, but they are subsiding as I'm starting to see DD be a
little more independent, DS#2 getting closer to potty trained, and DS#1
off to school every morning
You're doing a great job!

That was the case with me after I stopped pumping for the twins. I finally
felt more like myself again. My estrogen levels are normally low anyway, but
while b/fing, they were *super* low, and it affected me in multiple ways.
(My ob/gyn couldn't even get a good reading on my pap test when I went in
for my six-week PP visit and annual exam after I had Rayna, and I had to
return later and do it again.)
When you mention your body doesn't completely feel like it belongs to you
while b/fing, my body was "out on loan" for five years straight, beginning
with when I got pg with Rayna, then b/fed her for three years (although just
once a day for the final six months), then got pg with the twins (conceived
them on Rayna's 3rd birthday , then pumped for them for several months.
Not complaining in the least, mind you, as I wouldn't change a thing. Gotta
say, though, I'm pretty happy that I've had my body back for almost a year
now.

I know what you mean Cindi. When Tim and were dating i told him i
wanted at least 5 kids!! I sort of got that close i was pg 5 times but
then you know what happened. But i guess everyone goes through
that especially all of us that has went through IF. IF is so hard.
Every chapter in our lives is emotional i guess, with what all we have
been through. I think i have a tad of postpartum depression too.
Thanks again Cindi.

Thanks JP. It's strange i was content on having 2 kids when i was
trying to diet and lose weight i had come to grips with we would just
be happy with 2, then Asher came along and it all changed. I always
secretly wanted another baby because i didn't feel 2 was our "number"
but then i just said ok if this is the number of children we are going
to have then so be it. Then it all changed when he came along Im
so happy he came too.

It could be too that i am a bit sleep deprived too. That may be a
cause a little for the depression. It's not that i got a ton of sleep
either when i was pregnant because i was miserable with the carpal
tunnel and back pains. I know what you mean when you are
breastfeeding your body doesn't belong to you anymore at least until
you stop breastfeeding. Its also funny too when we came to grips with
we were just going to have 2 kids i was getting used to the idea of no
more diapers, no more potty training, etc......then he came.

I was a bit sad, today is the first day I haven't fed my daughter. :0( But
yesterday was the first day of suppression drugs, and I didn't want to
breastfeed and be on all the IVF meds, plus, I didn't want another influence
on my hormones. So that's that. Next week she's 18 months. I'd have liked to
have reached 2 years, but if we want a sibling close in age, which I think
will be good for DD in the long run, then we have to do what we have to do.
Besides, she got 4 extra months of feeding that she wouldn't have had if
we'd gone straight to IVF instead of doing 3 IUIs with a break over
Christmas.
Has it really been a year now Mary? God the time is flying. Next thing you
know it will be Christmas again!
:0)
