Well the morning of January 2nd i went in that morning at around 6
a.m. Central standard time. I went to admitting and was already
preregistered so i just had to sign a couple forms. Went up to labor
and delivery and was put into room 226 (right across from the room
that Jake and Alexis were born in) Smile (thought it was kind of neat) I
was put on the monitors and they did all the boring stuff to me drew
blood, etc....iv was put in etc...then at 7 am my doctor came in and
gave the orders to start the pitocin then. I was started out at a
very very low dose. (2 drops per hour something like that) and i
didn't start even feeling the contractions until around 12:30 p.m. had
to breathe through them but i was still smiling. Then he came in and
wanted to go ahead and break my water then he had been gradually
upping the pitocin. My final dose i was put on was up to a 10 i
think. Only then did i start feeling really hard contractions. (the
kind where you cry and want to give up) So basically up til around an
hour before i had him i had a pretty easy labor. Thank God!! Then
around 3:30 i think it was i was starting to get uncomfy a bit. I was
still at 8 cm by then. Still breathing through the contractions.
They kept asking "do you want something for the pain" i had refused
the epidural and i was like "no i can handle it right now" So they
didn't ask me anymore. So i kept breathing through the bad ones up
until i was around maybe 9 cm and it was maybe around 5:00 pm then I
started saying "i can't do it" over and over again. Then my mom and
Tim kept saying "no you can do it you ARE doing it" Jake had just left
the room for a bit and i started having really hard contractions and
the urge to push. I used the pushing bars which felt great by the
way. I pulled so hard on them while i was in the stirrups now my
muscles in both my arms are so sore!! I kept saying "call the doctor i
need something for the pain i can't take it anymore" so Tim finally
pagedthe nurse and said "she needs something for the pain" and the
nurse and doctor came back in it was probably around 5:20 pm and the
doctor checkedme and he said i was 10 cm and fully dilated and iwas
ready to push" (well with both my other kids i had had epidurals and
i didn't know when to push of course") but i just did what my body was
telling me to do. I was pushing so hard he was out in 3 pushes and he
came out at 5:27 p.m. He weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces and was 21
inches long. I pushed so hard i broke blood vessels around my eyes.
I did it without any epidural, no pain meds whatsoever!! I was proud
of myself because that's what i set out to do i wanted to try it
natural and without meds this time and i did it!! Smile Thanks for all
the prayers guys and positive thoughts i think that's why the labor
went so smoothly!! He has a TON of hair and its light brown. He is so
sweet. I know this pregnancy happened for a reason and i am just glad
it's all over and we are enjoying him now. Natural labor wasn't
really bad as i thought it would be and i have forgotten the pain.
But once i started pushing it wasn't that bad it actually felt good to
push. If i have forgotten details sorryi was in a bit of pain. LOL
My nurses were excellent and the doctor was so good to me. He held my
left leg up in the stirrup for Tim while Tim went and told my mom to
get back in the delivery room. He is a terrific doctor. My other OB's
i went to when i had lexie and jake wouldnt' have done that for me in
a million years!! Oh the funny part was as hard as i pushed i also
didn't tear at all or have to have any stitches!! Smile I was happy
about that too!! Well i will send pics to those who want to see him.
I can send a couple to Cindi if she wants to post them so you all can
see him. Let me know Cindi. He is breastfeeding really well too.
Well off now to go feed Asher. We named him Asher Cornelius. The
kids are too proud of him too!! Smile Thanks to everyone here for all
your support and prayers. I can't wait to follow the rest of you all
during your pregnancies!!

CONGRATULATIONS, Clarice and family!! And WELCOME, Asher! I'm so excited
for you that you were able to have the birth you wanted. Unmedicated birth
with a pitocin induction is no small feat, so hooray for you and for your
wonderful coaches who helped you through the tough moments of transition
when you were doubting yourself (totally normal part of the process)! I'm
so impressed, and I hope you're really proud of yourself, too. Sounds like
you had a great birth team... what a fantastic birth story and an incredibly
empowering memory of birthing your last little one. I'm so happy for you!!

Thanks for the update, and enjoy every moment with your new bundle! I would
love to see pics, by the way...

What wonderful news Clarice. I can't wait to see pictures of your little
completed family. The labor and delivery seemed to go very smoothly, if a
little painfully. Though that is indeed to be expected. =-)

Congratulations again and enjoy Asher's baby moments. With big kid help it
should be fun.

Now to wait for the other babies to get cooked

Yeah Clarice and family! Welcome baby Asher Smile I'm so happy things
worked out so well for you. I'm glad you were able to do this one with
no meds- I was like you- two with, and the last without (though not
really by choice-lol), and it made a HUGE difference in feeling when to
push. Glad you've had the full range of experience Smile Enjoy this very
special baby, he'll be big before you know it!

Congratulations Clarice!!!!
Welcome baby Asher!!! I am so happy for you and your family.
I have been checking periodically to see if you had the baby yet.
Great
timing.
As you know they grow so fast, enjoy these precious newborn moments
with him.

Oh, you are a rock star for going natural! That was our intention and
I ended up with a
C-section.

xoxo

Congratulations Clarice!

I had my last 2 births with no pain relief. It's pretty cool to get the
whole experience.

I hope that breastfeeding continues to go well.
